MFI was recognized in 2006 for its longstanding leadership and advocacy efforts in the fight against malaria. The White House Summit on Malaria was held in response to President and Mrs. Bush's call for private funds and action to end malaria deaths. Dr. Mary R. Galinski, Founder and President of the MFI attended the summit as an invited guest. The MFI remains an active participant in support of the common shared goals with the PMI, MNM, and an increasing number of partners. First Lady Laura Bush & President Jimmy Carter provide words of support for the MFI’s 2nd annual Malaria Business Leadership Conference, December 5, 2006The MFI was honored to receive special words of appreciation from First Lady Laura Bush & President Jimmy Carter accompanying its Paltalk Malaria Business Leadership Conference. Media Tenor Supports Malaria Foundation International, October 2006At the 7th International Agenda Setting Conference in Bonn , the MFI received the Media Tenor Special Award for 2006. This award acknowledged the longstanding role the MFI has played in creating awareness and information about malaria (see Malaria Advocacy, the beginnings ), as well as the fact that the malaria field had not yet reached the media threshold.
