Drive Against Malaria

Contact: David Robertson

Founded in 1998, the Drive Against Malaria consists of the efforts of one man, David Robertson, and his journey through 58 countries in Europe and Africa. Traveling in his Range Rover over a total distance of 145,000 kilometers, he delivers mosquito nets to orphanages, health centers, and villages across Africa. He has also driven across Europe, spreading awareness of malaria through utilization of various politicians and the media. The MFI helped launch the DAM and continues to support this epic effort with the aim of initiating a major DAM campaign in the United States.

Malaria-Free Zones

Contact: George Ayittey

Led by George Ayittey and the Free Africa Foundation, and with support from the 1st “Hedge Fund vs. Malaria” business leadership conference, individually-sponsored “Malaria-Free Zones” have been established in parts of Ghana and Nigeria. More projects are underway pending increasing contributions.

Dunk Malaria

This group sets up dunk contests, three-point shooting contests, and foul-shooting contests throughout the country to raise money for various malaria-fighting organizations. Their main focus is Malaria Awareness Day, in which they encourage anyone around the world to simply shoot a basketball in honor of the millions of children who have died because of malaria.
