Blue Ribbon Clubs 

The purpose

  1. To enable young people to take up leadership roles in the fight against malaria.
  2. To have an active force within the schools, and communities for education and active surveillance for malaria.
  3. To encourage young leaders to take an active role in the community for the mobilization of local resources for the fight against malaria.
  4. To ensure the timely referral and right treatment of people suffering form malaria.
 

Activities of the blue ribbon clubs

  1. Weekly/monthly meetings
  2. Presentations at church meetings/gatherings
  3. “Malaria Watch”- the blue ribbon club members will actively help in

    -identifying and removing sources of mosquitoes and larvae within the village

    -Actively ensuring the use of bed nets, creams and other protective measures

    - Encourage the fever cases to seek the right treatment at the right time

  1. Village adoption

    -spreading awareness through rallies, house to house visits, poster displays and street plays

    -Work with youth groups in the villages for identification and removal of sources of mosquitoes

    -During the epidemic help to raise resources from local agencies for treatment of poor patients

    -Advocate timely and correct treatment 

    -Advocacy to the government for preventive measures

       -Help the ADWR team  with various preventive activities in the village
